The BMW club deals with the "timed event" clause by dividing the day into 2
sessions.
The first is a lapping session with small groups of cars with no passing and
no timing
equipment. After that the people who are serious get back in line and run
for trophies
and the rest park and watch. The presence of the timing equipment changes
the event
from a "driving school" to a competetive event and at that point most
insurance cos.
draw the line. It's also easy for them to make the call;
Question-"Were there timers?"
Answer -"yes".
REPLY- "No insurance coverage!"
