Subject: PA assembly questions

Hello MMMers,

Two quick questions on the assembly of my P type.

Starting 1.5" forward of the rear bump stop bracket on the top of both the
L
& R frame rails, there are 4 evenly spaced 1/4" holes, 3-3/4" apart, in the

top of each rail, going to front. For what purpose? What am I missing?
[Lew Palmer] Aren't those the mounting points for the battery box or shock
mountings? Without looking at mine, I can't remember, but I know one or the
other sits in about that position.

Are the inboard edges of the floor boards "sandwiched" between the bottom
and top pieces of the prop shaft cover to "pin" them in place... or do the
floor boards simply rest on the lip of the top cover? Maybe stated more
simply,
how are the floor boards held in place?
[Lew Palmer] Well, I've seen this discussed endlessly before, but my logic
would tell me that the floorboards go on top on the driveshaft tunnel and
are held down with 1/4" BSF flathead screws with a floorboard washer under
the head. The floorboard washers are the same as on all MGs up to and
including the MGA, so new ones are available. Where the studs protrude up
from the tunnel mountings, I use flat washers and nuts above the
floorboards.

If you put the tunnel above the floorboards, I think it sits too high in the
car and does not allow a single floorboard to be removed without removing
the tunnel.

Thanks,

Don B.
