Hi All So while my transmission is out, I thought I would try pull the flywheel and maybe replace the rear oilseal. I was able to remove the flywheel (I braced a small prybar in the ring gear teeth).

The TR250 used a pull type starter so the starter motor gear was behind the flywheel and was pulled towards the starter motor to engage the ring gear. The TR6 went to a push type starter, but Triumph

One thing to add about the rear oil seal- make sure the top most bolt in the seal retainer is the one that has the copper washer under it. This hole goes into an oil gallery and needs the copper wash

I can't say for certain about TR-6 in the very early years, but my 250's starter pinion is pulled forward into the ring gear when engaging meaning the bevel needs to be facing away from the engine to
