It is quite likely, since he has headers, that he had to loosen the right
side header, which could include pulling the plug wires on the right side.
If the plug wires weren't put back on all the way, leaving a spark gap
inside the boot, that would behave as he describes. However, I can't believe
Larry would be that careless - right Larry?

Ok, I bumfuzzled about this whole thing of guessing. My assumption was that
the only thing that waas changed was the starter for one of those hi-torque
gizmos. But it seems like we have delved far and wide for the answers. Was
the car running correctly before changing the starter? Did you disconnect
all the wiring in the car? If you only changed the starter, then that should
have been only the large power lead from the starter to the solenoid. Shold
not have had to remove any other wiring. Were you required to change any
other item? If so, then the playing field is not level...
