Dave, I'm not sure about your old one but the "newer diff's have a collapsible spacer on the pinion,any time you loosen the pinion nut it has to be put back exactly where it was. (prick punch the nut and the pinion,and count the turns to remove) If you tighten the nut more than it was, the diff has to be disassembled in order to change the spacer,then set up correctly. I would avoid removing the nut unless ABSOLUTELY necessary. And if it was,I would have the Bentley manual at my side when doing it. This is only if you have a collapsible spacer, Parts books and serial numbers can help you there. Good Luck, Bob Harris |
