I use a small rubber hose. Drop the ball down into the hose, situated
directly over the hole. An empty pen tube might work as well.

Trying to get the ball to stay in the stator of the wiper motor seems
impossible. Naturally, it won't run without it. How do you get the ball to
stay put when the slightest movement makes the ball cling to the side
magnets?
