The number of popups I get with the google toolbar installed on my
computers belays the notion that it's a great stopper of said popups.

Firefox, which is installed on one of my computers is no more resistant
to popups then Explorer or Opera. It also has serious problems with
many of the add ins, like shockwave and such. It also doesn't like
printing in frame information, such as account balances. It is more
stable then Explorer though.

Adaware is a good piece of freeware, but don't stop there, you tend to
need a plethora of freeware programs to better rid a computer of addware
and spyware. I personally also run Spybot Search & Destroy, and Spyware
Sweeper. All three will pick up different things. And this is all when
running behind a Novel server firewall, and with Symantech's virus
protection. Yet in spite of it all, I still regularly get clobbered
with spyware, addware, popups, viruses, etc.
