I am Sid, and I am a Roadsteraholic......
My Roadster disease can be directly traced to my best friend in High School.
He dragged home a farmer's field find and I was intrigued. A couple of
months later, I found a pair of them and my sister and I bought them. I
rebuilt a spare engine we bought and put it in my car. It was FAST as the
head had been milled and the cylinders bored .060 over. I loved that car.
It helped me through a lot of tough times - drop the top and drive and all
the troubles flew away like so many leaves in the wind. Of all the cars
that I have owned, that one is the one that I regret selling. But I was in
college, and nickle and dime stuff was killing me.
I sold it and bought a 66 Mustang. Black and bad. It was fast and loud,
but cornered like a bread truck. I did a few neat mods to it, and enjoyed
it, but when I sold it, I was not sad. Several years after selling my first
roadster, I found a 68 for sale. I made the mistake of looking at it, and
the disease flared up again. I bought it and got it running, only to sell
most of it to finance the SPL310 in the garage that is undergoing a stalled
restoration. I got the fever for a 2000 and, well, now I have 2 67.5 2000s.
One is the Rustiest Roadster in exsitence (the one on my website), while
the other is coming along. It burped to life on Sunday. I want to get it
running and driving before January.
My wife Carol and daughter Amelia and I live in Jacksonville, Florida. My
wife is rather understanding of my being a Datsun Dork, but I do try her
patience. We have another child due in January, so things are a bit nuts
here, plus I am trying to start my own business. Who needs sleep anyway!
