I think that the timing and scoring problem we have is
because the visibility from the motorhome is very
poor. I've worked in timing for so many years in all
the different positions. I'd get there early to work
in the timing trailer, because it seemed like a cushy
job. Now there's no way I'll ever work in there, not
anymore. We used to be able to do it all with three
people. We could all see everything on the course. Of
course, we had a radio to talk to course workers, but
this was so simple. Communication was a snap, at least
relative to how it is now.

I think a better seating configuration would be to
have the back of the MH used for timing and scoring,
so ALL crew members can easily see the cars at the
starting line, out on course, and as they cross the
line (like a normal trailer), rather than having to
rely on people with radios to be the eyes and ears. It
gets so loud in there and confusing, and sometimes,
I'd be so exasperated because I got the feeling that
no one seemed to car if the times were correct, just
get the times down on "a" card, and let's get out of
here. I know that's not true, but that's how hectic it
was. We were all sitting there blind. I know with the
right crew it can work, but hoping for that eight run
groups in a day is just depending on too much LUCK.
