mAs adds the most effective comment yet. Let me also add that these
points can be taken a step further. Racing cars has an inherently
dangerous factor, be it solo 2 or Nascar. If you truly think that you
can autocross a car and never be in jeopardy, you are in the wrong sport.
When we sit down, strap in and drive to the starter's position, we tell
the world,"If something unexpected happens, I accept full
responsibility!" From what I have read, a mistake was made that
eventually led to an accident. Let's learn from it, put it behind us and
chalk it up as an unfortunate event. How many times have we all seen
cars go _extremely_ out of control in aberrant situations and put corner
workers, spectators and drivers in jeopardy? My first event, the FW
Nat'l Tour in '99, I saw a car spin, the driver apparently lost focus
momentarily and as a result the car came dangerously close to hitting the
pipe fence on which my family was sitting. Did I get scared, run to the
Club and scream about the poor design of the course, yadda, yadda, yadda?
Autocross is racing. Racing is dangerous. Pro is even more dangerous
than solo 2 (maybe, there aren't a lot of brainless punk novices in Pro,
are there?). Get over it.
