WELCOME to the eccentric world of vintage racing! After reading the
board for
a few weeks, I came to the conclusion that vintage racing is first and
most importantly the philosphy on the track ("gentle driving-see the
florida SCCA web site).
Secondly is what you are bringing to the "party". I have not actually
raced my '72 lotus europa yet(almost ready) and don't want to modify my
'68 mg midget, but have already learned that some circles think that a
24 year old car is not "vintage" even if it did have racing history. So
I/you are left with finding a circle of racers who will accept you/your
car. I've decided on the SCCA vintage(new philosophy of let the your
peers decide if your car is out of character) and the NASA
organization/"CHERIOT" ie old car, series. I hope you persist in your
endeavor to race "vintage" because it's gotta be better than the
cutthroat thinking of amateur racing. Like I said eccentric.
