This is apparently a regional problem. The SCCA Vintage program out
here specifically boasts that they will find a place for ANY car to run
that is basically non-competitive in modern classes. At the recent
Laguna Seca event we had a few early Atlantics. Of the FF's that showed
up, some had aerodynamic rear sections that they were asked to remove.
I don't think it slowed them down much. They also had a Porsche
unlimited group that had some pretty amazing cars in it. There was a
small group for big-bore open wheelers, but the small-bore group was
huge. We had Juniors, Vees, Fords, and FB. The Atlantics were pushed
into the F5000 group. I say keep looking. What about Solo I? There
are several clubs running similar time-trial events, tho some exclude
open-wheelers. Would time-trial events keep a VMC license up?

While I agree with those who say all vintage drivers should be looking
out for one another, you simply cannot ignore the visibility issue. I
really agree with Jim on this one. If they can't see you, how can they
look out for you?
