You may find the following procedure sounds a little drastic but years ago I
rebuilt a Vauxhall 4cyl (GM) engine. The thrusts were integral with the
centre main bearing and came from the manufacturers way over size. They
would not fit so I took them back to the Vauxhall dealers. Their answer was
that you had to sand down to fit. They recommended 500 grit on a flat
surface, use of a micrometer or vernier and said it was a standard workshop
procedure!! It worked fine for me.
This method you could use if you bought the larger size of thrust washers.
The bearing surface is quite soft so should not need to much effort to
achieve the perfect tolerance.
