Thought the list might be interested in a project I've got in the works
right now.
It is a Bronze Alloy Thrust Washer for TR250/6. It was developed by a friend
of mine named Scott Helms when he encountered the "TW's in the Pan" problem
with a TR6 he was restoring. As I said, the material is a Bronze Alloy that
was suggested by a Dr.of Metalurgy (foget what the correct name for one of
those guys is right now) for it's excellent wear properties.
This washer doesn't eliminate wear - you still have to check your end-float
as usual. The best thing about it is the fact that IT'S SOLID unlike the OEM
thrust washer which is plated. Because it's solid, there's no danger of
wearing through the surface plating to the steel beneath and causing much
more serious damage.
Very soon we will have them available in several oversizes if anyone is
interested.
Email me off-list for more info.
