The main reason for this posting is to ask a question regarding TR4A wiper
motors. However before I do this I would like to also state that I have
changed my stance regarding the wiper motor body paint finish. When sanding
down the wrinkle paint on my wiper motor guess what I found underneath?, yes
dark grey metallic paint! It may not be generally known that Hammer finish
paint flats out, after sanding, to normal metallic finish. Therefore it
would appear that the supporters of hammer finish seem to win, I will have
to find another use for the wrinkle paint.

Now my question to all those who have seen the inside of a TR4/4A wiper
motor.

What is the correct angle of sweep?

This question arises because the main final drive wheel on mine is damaged
and needs replacement.
120 degrees is stamped on to the top surface of the drive wheel.
I purchased an identical unit (for parts only as the outer casing is badly
corroded) at a swop meet. It has the date stamp of 1969 this being the only
difference. Reportedly it was from a Spitfire but I have no idea if this is
correct. I understand that the Spitfire and the TR have the same screen
frame and screen so I did not think that there would be a problem. After
lifting the lid I was surprised to find that the sweep angle stamped on the
final drive wheel is 150 degrees.

Which one is correct?, will 30 degrees make much of a difference? Is it that
the reduced sweep is designed to clear the vent flap when open?
