I know someone who has got several switches and push buttons on his car,
one switches on the Air Horns, one is a 'locked on' switch (via a relay)
that only works when the ignition is on. When off it stops the petrol
getting to the carbs. Another of the switches disconnects this device,
as does turning off the ignition (so he doesn't have to remember to do
it) There is yet another switch in the same bank (and they are all
hidden by the way) that turns on the hazard lights. The idea is that
a thief can start the car, but it cuts out on him, he will think that
there is something wrong with it (it is an old car so faults are
expected !) and either flatten the battery (assuming he has turned the
battery switch) or just leg it. If he finds the switches then he has to
select the correct one or get his ears blasted etc etc.
The lock on/off idea would also work if someone hijacked the car (not
very likely I know) all the driver has to do is switch off the ignition,
the thief would restart it whilst the driver got away. The car would
then stop a few hundred yards down the road....
Of course he ALSO removes the rotor arm and has a steering wheel lock,
so the thief has to be very good (or one of his friends) in order to
drive the car away
