I don't mean to be insulting to any truck fan's out there, each to their
own I say. But could someone please tell me what the hell is so cool
about owning a truck! Sure they have presence, but they look horribly
utilitarian and handle atrociously. Can anyone out there explain what I'm
missing.
I just purchased a Ford F150 pickup and it's one of the best moves I have
ever made. With all my car restoration activities, having a pickup makes
every hauling or moving task a breeze. Try stuffing a TR6 bonnet into a
passenger car. When having my TR6 frame sandblasted, I was easily able to
put it into the pickup . Try explaining to your wife/SO that you are
hauling greasy auto parts in your nice family sedan!
Then there is the entire issue of towing. I would never entertaining
driving across the state or nation towing my antique car (1922 Model T)
behind a passenger car! Last Winter I towed this car from Denver to San
Diego and had no a speck of trouble with controlling the truck or weather -
despite traveling through some good winds from Denver to New Mexico!
The pickup has proven itself useful for all types of home maintenance.
I agree, I wouldn't enjoy being behind one in my LBC. But I sure would not
want to be active in car restoration without one.
