     Looks like I'm headed in the adapter direction soon. Right after I 
     figure out the clunk in the rear end, replace the tranny, do a valve 
     job, fix the rocker panels, install a radio, get it to run smoothly, 
     stop the (major) oil leak, etc., etc., etc.

I never had a oil cannister seal problem on a TR, but I had a whopper on a 
Rolls! 
 Changed the filter, placed the cannister back, bolted it in position.
start up and 
SPEWWWWW! the stuff went everywhere!.  I had to re-fit it countless times. 
     
Luckily I had a case of oil!  Eventually I got it to seal.  I really am 
happy I put the 
spin-on adapter on the TR.
