I mounted a set of GT6 front springs, with two coils cut out on my 1980
Spitfire.
Contrary to the words of some claiming it will make the car ride like a
buck board, that is just not true. As just about any of us with cut
down springs can attest too. There's far too many coils in that spring
for the removal of a few to have much affect on the spring rate.
If you go this route, I would not suggest straight away cutting 2
coils. I'd go a less, like 1 coil. I'm very low with 2 coils cut out,
and a lot of nose weight removed (no bumper, etc). I had to roll the
fenders to in order to slightly clear my oversize tires and wheels.
Stock wheels wouldn't have been as much trouble. For my desires, it's
also still too soft. But that's a personal thing. Remember, you can
always cut more, but you can't put it back on.
Air shocks just get your rear end up in the air. It does do a little
for lowering the front bumber as it pivots around the front wheel.

Question: What's the best way to drop the nose down? Air adjustable
shocks, different front springs, or to cut the existing spring (or a
combination of two)? How much should I drop it, a couple of inches?
