Laura, you have the correct part no. There should be several tracks rivetted
onto the soft top where the seal fits in. Spitbits lists them as the retainers
(part nos 713036/7/8) since you are referring to their catalogue. I have the
original seal on mine and don't get any leaks there with the top up. It should
make a pretty good seal given it's thickness and teh amout it is compressed.

Hi there all!

Some very good points! (Rainy weather being a long way off here in So Cal, but
better to check some of this out and do the neccessary adjustments in warm
sunny weather rather than in the rain and wind!)

Good point!

Let's see...hard top...oh yeah! That thing that lives in Dave's garage at his
house! Pass!

Yes! I have that same leak!

Is that the seal that should be along that piece where the latches are? Where
would one get such a thing? Would that be the piece in the SpitBits catalogue,
pg 13, # 629584? (All three of my spits have spat like that-never saw a seal on
them..)

Thanks,

Laura G. and Nigel-who finally has new battery terminals-the original having
*finally*! rotted away! (Yes, he still has some of his original pieces!)
