If the original top was steel, and the new ones
are GRP,  I bet that the shape of the edge of the
window opening is quite different.  If you have never
removed a Spit-like windshield or back window, you
may not realize that the cross-section of the edge is
rather thick and complex, and is made of two
pieces of sheet metal.
