Stranded, tinned wire flexes rather well.  If solder 
flows, through capillary action, when soldering it 
makes that particular portion of the wire solid.  
This part may break when flexed often.  On a none 
flexing wire I think its a great way to make a permenent 
connection.  I think the flux is OK as long as its not 
acid based.  This is all based on my own experience.
