Another bit on connections. The only way to have a good crimp is to be sure you've got LOTS of pressure. Enough to create a gas tight connection between the wire and the connector. You can do that with a pneumatic tool if you've got one or by hand with a ratcheting crimping tool. These things apply tremendous pressure and don't let you open the pliers until they are tightened down all the way. The tool you got in the $9.99 kit at Kmart will not do the job! A good quality crimping tool can be had used at some of the surplus stores for about $70. |
