Jon,
I use Castrol 20W/50 in all my vehicles in the summer and Castrol 10W/40 in
the winter with an oil change interval of 5000 miles. It gets cold enough
here in Pittsburgh that on some mornings starting the car with 20weight in
the sump is a trial.
I see the advantage of the 20W/50 weight as being a thicker oil film. I will
give up the few rpm's lost to the thicker viscosity. The 5W/30 stuff scares
me.
