Paul I've had two cars stripped back to bare metal, a BMW sandblasted (before beads known) and my S3 (plastic) bead blasted. I can email you some pictures of the results if you like. No problems in either case although I believe the bead blasting is less likely to heat up and warp panels. It's less messy and less toxic than paint stripper and in theory less impact on body filler that might be under the paint. You'll need to vacuum out all the little nooks and crannies after but that's not a hassle. Just one thing - be prepared for the shock when you find out what the paint's hiding. In the case of my S3 a really badly repaired drivers door and rear fender. The panel shop had to made up new skins for them....
