Kendall and Co.---On my '73, both the oil pressure line to the gauge AND
the tach cable go thru the grommet down by the gas pedal. (Always did).
As Vance pointed out, the tach drive cable must be oriented at the
distributor correctly* so that its tortuous journey thru to the tach is
made without hard angles.
*The clips that hold the distributor cap should be nearly parallel to
the engine. This puts the tach cable to where it just misses going over
the top of thefuel pump, enroute to the grommet in question.
The distributor drive gear should be as shown in the Bentley manual,
with its milled slot clocked at "18 min. to two", when #1 piston is
firing on TDC. Know that there is some latitude here, depending on where
your #1 sparkplug wire is at, on the top of the dist. cap.

From: mailkendall@sbcglobal.net(Kendall LarseHey List,
Can anyone tell me what is supposed to be routed through the firewall
grommet right next to the gas pedal in a 74.5 TR6? My car never had the
EGR counter thing, or at least not anymore.
Here's a picture...

Thanks!
