Joe:
I would ask what you are trying to accomplish with the external
oiler.
If you feel that your driving style demands the extra top end
oiling
(auto crossing, etc) or your engine tuning demands it (radical cam, lots
of valve lift, etc) then it may make sense to keep it. Roller fulcrum
rockers
like Goodparts will run happily with little or no oil, so if you added
it solely
to protect those expensive rockers, then you can safely remove it.
If you are concerned about durability in a mildly tuned street
motor, then
it seems excessive to me. I agree with Roger Williams position that it
makes more
sense to protect the expensive bottom end than the cheaper, easier
serviced top
end. Because of that, I am not favorably disposed towards the external
oil
feeds. But then that's just me. I don't race, and my motor is very mild,
plus I
like the originality and don't want to worry about smoking or oil
consumption.
Your priorities may be totally different.
Just my $0.000002 worth.
Cheers,
Vance

Subject: Re: External Oil Feed Line
I've installed a Goodparts roller rocker assembly. I also installed the
external oil line per Richard's instructions. Personally, I'd like to
get rid of
the thing. Any comments?
