Hi Jim,
I have a '71 TR6 into which I'm going to put a J type OD.
It's going to be a frame off restoration, so I've been meaning to ask the
question you just answered
-- if you weld the later rear transmission mounts to an early frame, you can
then use any of the A
or J type OD, or the 4 speed w/o OD. I think you said you could.
As you have done, I plan to weld the later mounts on the '71 frame. Any tips or
suggestions? Can I
leave the existing (early) rear brackets on the frame or must they come off.
How did you position the new (later) rear mounts to the frame -- align it with
the engine and trans
sitting in the frame?
Thanks,
Don Malling
