Your prayers have been answered Dick...I have this same problem on my 
NA.  
Road Island Wiring has 1" dia. flat wound conduit in stock mit the 
brass 
ferrules for the ends...and they have lots of other sizes too.  This is 
very 
similar if not exactly like the original. They have it in stainless and 
galvanized I believe.  Not sure if they have a web site but if not, I 
have 
the catalog at home and can provide the info later...
