That sounds fairly typical. I've installed 2 and niether was a perfect fit. AS to what kind of glue, use silicone adhesive like the permatex stuff. Don't use any kind of solvent based glue like goop

Reverse is also a lower ratio than first, isn't it? My wife has had a couple 'roadster lessons' never having driven a standard trans before. She's better at moving from a standing start in reverse. C
