All in all a pretty nice setup at the ZCCA show today. There were
some grumblings about the dusty location , mostly from the twin-turbo
stereo transporters in the crowd. Mr K and his entourage braved the
Texas heat and long lines of autograph seekers with good humor. It's
goos that he is so appreciated. (I missed seeing him driving the 350-Z).
About the new Z. Gone are the superhero color accents in the cockpit,
it's really grown on me now that i've seen it in person. It has an
aggressive, if chunky shape...still not crazy about the headlights, but
it's what they're doing these days...
There were lots of ,Z cars, of course, it is a Z convention, after
all. Over in the non-competitor's area were 3 roadsters, My 70 1600,
Diana Morreale's 70 1600, and a 70 2000 that once belonged to the owner
of Courtesy Nissan. It now belongs to the wife on "Mad Mike" Taylor
(Edie?) Who's first extended trip in it was from Dallas To San Antonio.
Some roadster folks without their rides. Terry Cost (Leisure Suit Terry)
Was there with his son Terry. Andy will not be making it ot the
autocross to show them how it's done, unfortunately. I also met Ron and
Renee Ayers of SEROC, and we talked cars awhile Ron admitted to being a
lurker on the list.;^)
I expected there to be more vendors there, i think there were two, a
Z-Sport Magazine, and an outfit called Motorsport (I think).
On the way home from the show, I stopped for a float at a Dairy
queen, and when I looked down at the odometer, it read 99999. The little
cart has officially been around the block!
Enjoy the ride!
