According to the Bentley manual for the TR250/TR6 the stock system holds 11
imperial pints (13.2 pints or a tad over 3 gallons to us colonials)
including the heating system.  If the TVR radiator holds much less water
than the TR6's radiator then that wouldn't help.

How far drained was the system when you started?  Just opening the drain
valve on the radiator (if you have one) will still leave a bit of water in
the rest of the system.
