A friendly warning...
That statement reflects a basic non-vintage attitude that will get you into
trouble with most groups. Vintage racing is not about being competitive. My
advice is pick a car you like and go have fun.
One consideration besides how fast, is how many others are there racing one?
If you have a one-off, then you end up the loner. If you have Porsche,
Cortina, Alfa, Triumph, etc., you end up with many others. The social and
partying side is as much or more fun than the racing....
