My bugeye had problems with the rear seals- turned out the surface was worn
where the seal makes contact, esp. on the bottom, where you can't see it.
There was enough grove to catch a nail in, which also damaged seals.

There are a few things you can do to help-
-polish the mating surface with crocus cloth
-if it's badly worn, get a "speedy sleeve" (Available from bearing
suppliers), a thin metal collar which goes between the seal and
         the hub.
-Some newer style seals have 2 sealing lips instead of one- they seal
better, and contact a new, unworn area.

My leak was solved with polishing and newer seals.

Also make sure your axle is properly vented...
