I usually start at the front. That's because as you raise the rear the
clearance at the from goes from minimal to not workable. Then I lift the front
and
put it on two jack stands set to minimum height. Then I lift the rear by
placing the jack under the rear axle and raise it to about halfway between the
height of the front and the desired final height. Then I lift the front to the
final desired height and then raise the rear to final height. Always test
stability at all interim steps and the final position before climbing under the
car. I usually leave the jack under the car in the raised position as a backup
measure. Belts and braces (suspenders) so to speak.
