John,
Please explain CR's.
As far as I know, no TR4As were assembled in South Africa. I think it
was originally imported from UK although it has a bumper badge from the
Uruguay Triumph Club!!
The car is here in Dar because I brought it with me and the plan in to
drive it to Cape Town for the SA Triumph Club National Gathering. (or
maybe I'll just put it on the back of a truck to Johannesburg).
Regards

Chris Buckley

Flying a kite on guesswork, a possible reason for your car having
different
needles may be that it was fitted at the factory (or if built in South
Africa) with a different CR engine. ISTR the fuel octane figures (using
the
research method) listed SA as 95 octane at best. Neighbouring 'black
African' countries had differing figures anywhere between 85 and 90
octane
RM, meaning that cars needed quite low CR's, different distributors
because
these relate to leaded and not unleaded fuel.

Bearing in mind the altitude variations, not to mention fuel types and
general road conditions, it may be you'll have to equip yourself with
varying needle and jet configuations to use in your car depending on
where
you happen to be.
