gearbox mount

Dear list, sorry for jumping around,
Is there suppose to be any sound deadening material, etc. underneath the
gearbox mount?  Or does the gearbox mounting simply rest on the chassis
crosspiece making for metal-to-metal contact?  I can't remember.
