You are correct about the charm - no doubt about it. It's a paradox the
likes of Shelby could not resist - a tiny little car and a ridiculously
large motor. I'm no Shelby for sure but it still attracts me....

Others may disagree, but I do not think it's possible to get a reliable
200HP out of the TR 4-pot motor. Unless you mean reliable as in "I can rely
on it to blow up". If I were you, I would do the TR engine with Weber's or
supercharger. Putting a V-8 in it would destroy a great deal of the TRs
"charm" Keep in mind that this advice is coming from a guy who's father
races an XKE Jag with a Chevy V-8......
