Bill,
I put my seat rails on top of the carpet. I think that is how I have
found most of the carpets done in my cars.
I afraid if you slit the carpet around the rails that the seat would
catch the carpet and move it or unravel the edges, making a real mess.
Thought maybe you might consider this potential problem.
