Scott,
That sounds like a fine idea to me! You could rest your right arm on the left 
bank of the engine. Bolt the trans directly to the rear end, build some 
mickey mouse shift linkage and-oh heck I guess you are kidding aren't you? 
(Is thatV12 a flat head or ohv>)
