Hi Jim
You add another interesting twist to my investigations with this statement. Is
there any other symptoms of a destroyed layshaft? Moss catalogue says "Gray
sludge (drained from the tranny) means the layshaft and gear are destroyed" I
admit the oil I drained wasn't pretty, but I'd hardly call it sludge.
The tranny shifts smoothly and doesn't grind or make any other obnoxious
noises, so what would indicate a toasted layshaft?
