Hi Dennis
I've pulled a few of these things off in my time and have never seen any 
rubber in between any of the body panels. All of them looked pretty much like 
the pics in the parts books. Any sign of collision damage? This is not to say 
that some cars didn't have any rubber strips from the factory. Triumph did 
all kinds of weird things in putting these cars together, and many are not 
documented very well. 
I don't think you should be very concerned about replacing them.
