It sounds as if the clutch is out of adjustment and the clutch is not
letting go of the flywheel entirely.  On a TR6, this could be due to a weak
slave or master cylinder, or the clutch does need some adjustment.  Grinding
in reverse is that first real sign that your clutch needs some upkeep.
