OK guys and gals, here's what I do for a spare in my post 60,000 TR3A. I keep the 165-15, which is mounted on a 4.5 inch (wide) rim, partially inflated (15 psi, I think) and I keep a foot pump in the boot. Also, I sprayed the interior of the spare compartment with a clear Teflon paint type material and (this is the important part) I tie a loop of light rope through the hub, so I have something to grab when I need to pull the tire out.
