I can sympathize with your condition. If it is truly ready to come off,
do what I have done when faced with such a situation. Take a large,
several-ton bottle jack, set it perpendicular to the wheel such that you
are only prying against the spindle- wrap a large log chain around the
jack and wheel and start jacking. It may be considered prudent to seek
shelter from the wheel should it come off sharply and unexepectedly. I
might add that I have only done this to vehicles belonging to other
people who have never performed any maintenance and have had the
bearings heat-welded to the spindle. Yes, it's crude, but it works.
As I said, be very careful, you are putting many tons of force on the
wheel and it may come off with a lot of force. Good luck and may the
