Stu:

I don't have any information on the TR8, but I can tell you how to find out.
If it is the series type, the lead from the ignition switch to the coil will
go to the tach first, and then to the coil, and the lead will go to the
positive post. If it is the other type, there will be a lead from the minus
post of the coil to the tach. The tach will have two other leads, in addition
to the light bulb leads, one green wire and one wire, usually black, going to
ground.
