this is not quite true, you also need an excess of oxygen in the exhaust
gases to complete combustion and this is why the air pump is generally part
of the system on these cars, so if you plan to place a converter, you need
to place an air pump to make it work and you can't used leaded fuel (I know
you can't get it in the US, but you can still find lead additives)
