Not a bad Idea.  My 79 SPit has one fitted.  THey were required that
year.  Be sure to get the heat shields mounted properly.  Otherwise you
will have a CATASTROPHIC PERVERTER.

They are very effective at cleaning emmisions.  And the local muffler
shop put one in for about $120, as compared to the sky high price of
just the poor fitting parts you can get in the catalogs. 

Good luck.  And carry a fire extinguisher.  If you car is running the
slightest bit rich the cat will glow red hot!  Not acceptable under the
hood or under the car.  You might find that leaning the carbs,
especially at idle to the point of not running the cat red will not run
you engine at all.
