Correct points gap is .015". Correct dwell angle range, if you
have a meter, is 37 degrees.

I do this with a simple 12V test light. Connect one lead to ground, and
the other to the distributor power connection from the coil. The
purpose of the test lamp is to determine precisely when the points first
close. Next, turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise until you reach TDC
(no. 1 piston at top of cylinder). Then slowly continue to turn pulley
clockwise until lamp lights - should be at 10-12 degrees BTDC.
If not, loosen distributor clamp and rotate distributor slightly to
adjust static timing. Continue this trial and error process until you
achieve the desired static timing.
