Wearing away the training arm would be a very good reason yes...

Those are good reasons too, but Gary was asking if he could remove
the spacers as his ride height was a bit high. I too have stiffer
springs in the rear, and my ride height is slighly above normal as
well. Not so bad that it looks like a cat in heat, but it certainly
has very good posture...
Thus my question for clarification. So I guess the real alternative
is a) live with it b) buy new springs c) modify the springs by
grinding away a small portion of metal at the top and bottom of
the spring. Depending on the design of the spring, you probably
couldn't remove enough material to make this worth your while.
